TV This Week-Premieres & Finales 1/09/2012

Moving further through January we see even more new TV premieres.  I’m going to go out on a limb here and assume most of you have DVRs or HTPCs to tell you when your favorite TV series are returning from holiday break and we’ll focus on the new premieres, finales and specials as we always do.

First Week In (9pm on Discovery) New crime series where three first time inmates deal with a terrifying first week in prison

America’s Money Class With Suze Orman (9pm on OWN) New personal finance series

Mobster Confessions (10pm on Discovery) New crime series

Caged (10pm on MTV) Season premiere

Dance Moms (9pm on Lifetime) Season 2 premiere

Shipping Wars (9pm on A&E) New reality series

Flip Men (10pm on Spike) Season 1 finale

Tabatha Takes Over (10pm on Bravo) Season 4 premiere

The Game (10pm on BET) Season 5 premiere

24 Hour Catwalk (10pm on Lifetime) New reality/fashion series

Let’s Stay Together (11pm on BET) Season 2 premiere

 

Wednesday, January 11

One Tree Hill (8pm on CW) Season 9 premiere

Are You There, Chelsea? (8:30pm on NBC) New comedy series based on the semi-autobiographical book by Chelsea Handler.  Starring Laura Prepon and Chelsea Handler.  But it will be Prepon playing Chelsea, not Chelsea.  Got it?

Only in America With Larry the Cable Guy (9pm on History) Season 2 premiere

I Cloned My Pet (9pm on TLC) a new reality series

Amazing Eats (9pm on Travel) New food series

Face Off (10pm on Syfy) Season 2 premiere

Combat Cash (10pm on Discovery) New reality series

 

Thursday, January 12

30 Rock (8pm on NBC) Season 6 premiere

Rob (8:31pm on CBS) New sitcom series written by and starring Rob Schneider.  Cheech Marin also stars.  First episode synopsis:  Rob meets his new wife's large Mexican-American family for the first time and notices he doesn't quite fit in.

The Finder (9pm on Fox) New drama series.  This is a spinoff of the popular series Bones that will star Geoff Stults who plays a military-trained guy who finds people no one else can in the Florida Keys.

Sins & Secrets (9pm on ID) Season premiere

 

Friday, January 13

 

One Life to Live (2pm on ABC) And then there was one – MrsGeekTonic has gone from three daytime soaps to one, General Hospital.  ABC began this soap in 1968 and finally puts it to death on Friday the 13th!

 

Fringe (9pm on Fox) Okay it’s not a premiere, but it’s back – and that’s enough reason for me to put this one on the list.

Sweet Home Alabama (9pm on CMT) Season 3 premiere

Real Time With Bill Maher (10pm on HBO) Season 10 premiere

Blade (11pm on G4) New horror/fantasy series

The Fades (9pm on BBCA) New fantasy/horror series

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (9pm on ABC) this season 9 finale finishes with part 2 of the Joplin Tornado Families episode.  This will be the series finale as well

Sunday, January 15

Undercover Boss (8pm on CBS) Season 3 premiere

Napoleon Dynamite (8:30pm on Fox) New cartoon series based on the movie by the same name

Nightmare Next Door (9pm on ID) Season premiere

 

Monday, January 16

Alcatraz (8pm on Fox) The new J.J. Abrams produced series.  This one is a crime mystery/drama where Detective Rebecca Madsen and Dr. Diego Soto joins forces with a secret agency charged with catching recently resurfaced Alcatraz inmates; the team retraces the steps of the past to apprehend a sniper who is targeting young victims.  Starring Jorge Garcia, Sam Neill and more.  It’s on my list to record – we’ll see if it lives up to the hype.

Southland (10pm on TNT) Season 4 premiere

American Idol (8pm on Fox) Season 11 premiere

Sons of Guns (9pm on Discovery) Season 2 finale

 

Thursday, January 19

Beyond Scared Straight (10pm on A&E) Season 2 finale

Archer (10pm on FX) Season 3 premiere

Unsupervised (10:30pm on FX) New animated comedy series where we join the lives of two teenage best friends, Gary and Joel. The duo are optimistic teens taking on teenage life and all of it's hurdles without any parental guidance whatsoever.  Cast voices include Justin Long & Kirstin Bell.
