SageTV Selling & Shipping Hauppauge HD-PVR's Now

Hauppauge HD-PVRIf you've been waiting for a Hauppauge HD-PVR (read my first impressions on the device here), your wait is over.  The Hauppauge HD-PVR is now available for shipment in the SageTV store.

There are 2 options:

Hauppauge HD-PVR and Remote

For $249.95

(or)

The HD-PVR/SageTV Bundle that includes:

  • Hauppauge HD-PVR
  • Remote
  • SageTV Media Center for Windows

For $299.95 (saves $30 from regular $329.95 price)

There has been a delayed delivery when purchasing through Hauppauge directly so this will be a popular option for many.  Plus the $299.95 bundle is an excellent deal for those interested in getting started with SageTV.

This seems a big backwards. SageTV should be released before they start selling a bundled device that is only supported in a beta. The last beta (v6.4.5) has some show stopper problems for OTA with a HDHomeRun (in my experience)... however it may be stable for the HD-PVR. It's just an odd (or at least not very conservative) move by SageTV.

Sorry, that should read... "This seems a bit backwards."

Nathan,
The last several betas of SageTV including v6.4.5 have very stable support for the HD-PVR - matter of fact I think SageTV is the only HTPC software not having bugs in their HD-PVR support.

And the issues with the OTA HDHomeRun I think (not positive) have been hashed out. I wouldn't be surprised to see 6.4 go out of beta before too long. Bottom line selling the HD-PVR via SageTV is a great way to package things and a way to get the HD-PVRs faster than through the line that exists at Hauppauge. Thats my opinion for what its worth ;)

Any ETA on a driver update that might improve stability? (I keep hearing of of stutter issues)

And 5.1?

Hi Brent,
Yep... I saw that there was new stuff on the SageTV forum about it. I'll try it out this weekend.

Anonymous,
the 5.1 driver is reportedly coming soon (their working on it right now), but as far as stability I don't know if any stability issues. If there are stutter issues it's more likely a result of the PC/device doing the playback and/or the codec. I have excellent playback on my dual-processor HTPC as well as my SageTV HD100 extender.

Amazon & Buy.com also have it. But they seem to be both out of stock. I think I got my order through to Amazon before it went out of stock Friday night! :)
