Sounds like Cisco has resolved the problem with the Linksys MediaCenter Extenders. They did some server maintenance and had an issue with the certificate server that all of their extenders automatically checked into via the web.
So those extenders were off-line for about 48 hours give or take – not as bad as many had expected. But I wonder, why do these extenders NEED to check in over the internet to continue working? What happens when Cisco decides to no longer keep that server running? Should other HTPC extender owners worry about this as well?
