Microsoft has released the final version of Windows Live Hotmail recently, but hadn't released the Live.com domain until today - even though a few people did find a way to grab their e-mail address before it was publicly available.
You'll want to hurry so you can get your easier to remember e-mail address like johndoe@live.com for instance. Won't be long before all the good ones are gone, just like they are with gmail. Just for kicks I seriously just snagged junk in a box @ live . com Bet you know what I'll use that one for (yes junkmail!)
