GeekTonic Guide to TV-New Fall 2011 TV ABC

The Fall 2011 TV Season is nearly upon us.  To get things started GeekTonic is running through all of the new TV series coming this Fall.  The past two days we’ve covered the new shows on CBS, new series on FOX and today we move on to ABC’s new series.

Other Network Premieres Covered:

Charlie’s Angels – Thursday, 9/22 on ABC 8pm

Back in the late 70’s Charlie’s Angels became a hit sexy crime series on ABC.  ABC is hoping to rekindle that success by bringing us an updated version of the concept.
TV.com synopsis:  ABC is set to resurrect this 1970s classic series with Miami as the backdrop.Smallville writer-producers Miles Millar and Al Gough are joining forces with Sony Pictures TV and Drew Barrymore's Flower Films.

Last Man Standing – Tuesday, 10/11 on ABC 8pm

Are you ready for another Tim Allen sitcom?  ABC hopes so.  This one isn’t too far from his old genre, but they’ve turned the tables on the storyline a bit.
TV.com synopsis:  Tim Allen stars as Mike Baxter, marketing director of an outdoor sporting goods store, fighting for his manhood while constantly being surrounded by women, including his wife and three growing daughters.

Man Up! – Tuesday, 10/18 on ABC 8:30pm

Another comedy from ABC, this one has three lifelong friends struggling to define their masculinity as they get caught up in their day-to-day family lives.  Dan Fogler, Christopher Moynihan and Mather Zickel star.  It looks interesting, but I wonder if they are trying too hard to replicate some of the characters from Modern Family.
Synopsis from TV.com: Three modern men try to get in touch with their inner tough guys and redefine what it means to be a "real man."

Once Upon a Time – Sunday, 10/23 on ABC 8pm

ABC brings us a suspense/action drama series by the writers of Lost.  One of the lead roles is played by Jennifer Morrison of House fame.
TV.com synopsis: A modern take on fairy tales with a female lead character living in Maine that has risen from interesting circumstances. The Show revolves around the Adaptation of Fairytale Characters such as Snow white and Prince Charming in a quest to discover the Land Of Fairytale's and fight the Evil Queen who cast an Evil Spell on the Entire Land.

Pan Am – Sunday, 9/25 on ABC 10pm

A new drama by ABC set on the now expired airline, Pan Am.
Synopsis by TV.com:  Set in New York in the 1960s, at the height of the Pan Am Airlines' success, the lifestyles and many secrets of the pilots and flight attendants will be revealed.

Revenge – Wednesday, 9/21 on ABC 10pm

A new primetime soap drama by ABC.  Ticked off by the cancellation of your favorite daytime soaps?  This might be a good place to get your soap opera fix as this one is a soap in it’s purist form.  They won’t say this much, but it’s storyline is inspired by “The Count of Monte Cristo."
Synopsis from TV.com:  Revenge is a new take on Alexandre Dumas's classic tale told from a female perspective staring 'Brothers and Sisters' alum Emily VanCamp. The show follows the character of Emily Thorne who returns to the Hamptons with one firm goal to get revenge on those responsible of destroying her family.

Suburgatory – Wednesday, 9/28 on ABC 8:30pm

Another new sitcom from ABC.  It uses the familiar tale of city folks moving to the suburbs only to find out the burbs are full of superficial folks.
TV.com synopsis:  Writer Emily Kapnek, for the Parks and Recreation and Hung, is working on a new single-camera comedy project that features the perception of a typical suburban life through the eyes of a seasoned New Yorker.

That’s it for the new ABC series.  Next up is a roundup of new NBC series.  We’ll finish with lists of all new TV series and finally a list of all TV premieres including new series AND returning series.  Stay tuned to GeekTonic for more!
