TV Premiers: What To Watch 9/28 - 10/04

If you've survived last week - you're likely ready for the TV Premiere week of Fall 2008 - week 5 and I have the scoop on all of the premieres.
(To see more about the past weeks premieres: week one , week two , week three, week four).
Note:  The complete guide to the Fall 2008 TV Premieres with a free, downloadable guide is here

GeekTonic Picks for Shows Premiering This Week:
  • The Amazing Race – If you have to watch a realityTV show, this is one of the better ones
  • Desperate Housewives – I don’t watch this one, but my wife and seems like everyone else does.  Lots of silly soap opera storylines and very attractive people.
  • Chuck – Don’t take it too seriously cause its not meant to be, but it’s good entertainment.  I thought it was stupid when I first saw it (and it probably still is) but it grew on me.
  • Sanctuary – I’m going to take a chance on this new SciFi TV series even though I’ve never seen the web series.  I think it will fall flat, but I’m curious.

NOTE: Times are EST
SUNDAY 9/28/2008
Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (7pm on ABC - Available in HD) Season 6.  Let's see we have Lance Bass, Toni Braxton, Brooke Burke, Rocco Dispirito (chef), Maurice Greene (Olympic Medalist), Kim Kardashian, Susan Lucci and more.  My wife loves this show - me, not so much.
60 Minutes (7pm on CBS - Available in HD) Get your 60 minutes (less commercials) on CBS’s old (41 seasons old) news show.
The Amazing Race (8pm on CBS) We’re on season 13 of this “race-round-the-world” reality TV/contest.  Still not in HD though which is a bummer.
Amazing Race3
(The Token Barbie Dolls of Amazing Race)
The Simpsons (8pm on Fox) Wow, 20 seasons of this animated comedy!
King of the Hill (8:30pm on Fox) Follow the Hill family in season 13 of this animated comedy.
Desperate Housewives (9pm on ABC - Available in HD) The 5th season of this prime-time soap opera.
Cold Case (9pm on CBS - Available in HD) Season 6 starts off when the team re-opens the 1973 case of a murdered football player when it's discovered that he may have been murdered earlier than it was originally thought.
Family Guy (9pm on Fox - Available in HD) Season 7 starts off with Brian meeting the girl of his dreams.
Dexter (9pm on Showtime - Available in HD) Season 3 Dexter has put his life back together but as always things will likely fall apart again.  Season 3 of the show about a killer.
American Dad (9:30pm on - Available in HD) More fun with the Smith family – already in season 4
Brothers & Sisters (10pm on ABC - Available in HD) Season 3 starts with the Walkers going to the beach for a family vacation.

Californication (10pm on Showtime - Available in HD) Season 2 starts off with Hank getting a vasectomy.
Life & Times of Tim (10:30pm on HBO - Available in HD) This series premiere on HBO is a animated show about a young guy named Tim who just can't seem to catch a break in life. He's a normal guy who always tries to do the right thing, but for some reason the world conspires against him.  I watched a few clips from the premiere and don’t feel like I’m missing anything since I don’t have HBO.
Little Britain (11pm on HBO  - Available in HD) I cannot express how stupid this comedy looks.  It’s British humor though so if you’re fond of that you might want to check it out…

MONDAY 9/29/2008
Chuck (8pm on NBC - Available in HD) Season 2 starts off with an assassination attempt on one of the main characters.
Life (10pm on NBC - Available in HD) Get your ice cream here – Season 2 of Life.

TUESDAY 9/30/2008
Scare Tactics (10pm on Scifi) Season 3

WEDNESDAY 10/1/2008
Pushing Daisies (8pm on ABC - Available in HD) Season 2 – this is a very quirky show that my wife is fond of and I’ve heard others praise as well.  It’s not for me, but might be for you.
Friday Night Lights (8pm on DirecTV 101) Season 3 will only be available to DirecTV customers.  So I won’t be watching.
Private Practice (9pm on ABC - Available in HD) Addison and Charlotte work on a patient together to start off season 2
Dirty Sexy Money (10pm on ABC - Available in HD) This is one messed up soap opera and survived to season 2.  I have to admit it’s something I watch though.

FRIDAY 10/3/2008
Wife Swap (8pm on ABC) Yep it survived to see season 5 – amazing really.
Ghost Whisperer (8pm on   - Available in HD) Eli has a near death experience to start off season 4.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars (9pm on Toon) The latest animated series in the Star Wars franchise to hit the small screen. Supernanny (9pm on ABC - Available in HD) Another season (5) for this reality TV show
The Ex List (9pm on CBS - Available in HD) CBS has a new show where a woman explores all of her past relationships after a psychic tells her she's already dated her future husband.  Yep, that’s the plot ;)
Sanctuary (9pm on SciFi - Available in HD) This series was developed specifically for the Internet & is now making it to TV.  Filmed entirely on Green Screen.  Dr. Magnus takes over her fathers' sanctuary for supernatural creatures, collected from all over the world.
                        (The cast of Sanctuary)
Numb3rs (10pm on CBS - Available in HD) Season 5 starts off when Don's team gains a new member.
